The sun had barely risen when an African man named Kofi, along with his two children, Amina and Juma, boarded a ship bound for the North. Their destination was unknown, but their purpose was clear—to find greener pastures and escape the poverty that had gripped their homeland. They had no money, no belongings, only the clothes on their backs and the hope that the journey would lead them to a better life.
The ship's captain, a grizzled man with a scar running down his left cheek, welcomed the passengers with a gruff nod. Kofi's instincts flared the moment they stepped aboard. The ship was crowded, with people from all walks of life. As they settled into a corner, Kofi noticed a gang of men at the opposite end, their eyes fixed on Amina, his daughter. Their leers were menacing, their whispers laced with malice.
When one of the men approached Amina, Kofi stood up to defend her. But he was outnumbered, and the gang closed in on him, their intentions clear. Just as one of them reached for Amina, Juma, Kofi’s son, drew a knife from his pocket and stabbed one of the attackers. The ship's security quickly intervened, separating the family from the gang. As they were moved to another part of the ship, Kofi noticed a woman and her young daughter nearby. The woman looked terrified, constantly glancing over her shoulder as if expecting someone to emerge from the shadows.
Nearby, a group of missionaries sang gospel hymns, their voices accompanied by the strumming of guitars and the gentle beat of drums. Their songs were meant to bring comfort, but the atmosphere was thick with unease. The ship sailed deeper into the ocean, and soon, a dense fog enveloped them, obscuring everything beyond the ship's railing.
Suddenly, the ship shuddered violently, as if it had struck something massive beneath the waves. The captain stormed onto the deck, his face twisted in anger. He cursed the ocean and the weather, hurling insults into the fog. His voice echoed eerily, but the ocean responded with a deafening silence.
Without warning, a monstrous beast erupted from the depths—a dragon, its scales glowing with magma, its breath a scorching fire. It attacked the ship with a ferocity that left everyone paralyzed with fear. Flames consumed the deck, and screams filled the air as passengers were burned alive. Kofi and his children scrambled to find cover, huddling together as the chaos unfolded around them.
The ship's security guards fired arrows at the beast, but they were useless, bouncing off its fiery hide. Kofi shouted to the remaining passengers, "This is the Dragon! It’s not easy to kill!"
As the beast continued its rampage, an old man stepped forward. He knelt before the dragon, raising his hands in a gesture of worship, hoping for mercy. But the dragon showed none. With a swift, fiery breath, it incinerated the old man, leaving nothing behind but ashes. Then, as quickly as it had appeared, the dragon vanished into the fog, leaving the ship in ruins.
Despite the damage, the captain, driven by desperation, ordered the journey to continue. Hours passed in tense silence, the passengers too traumatized to speak. But peace was fleeting. A group of assassins, who had been aboard since the beginning, launched an attack on the woman and her daughter. The woman fought back fiercely, but the ensuing battle affected everyone on board. The screams and chaos drew the attention of something far more terrifying beneath the ocean—the Leviathan, the queen of the sea.
The mighty Leviathan tore the ship apart with her massive jaws, dragging many into the depths. The water churned with the desperate struggles of those trying to survive, but the Leviathan was relentless. Kofi, Amina, and Juma clung to the floating debris of the ship, praying for deliverance.
As the sun rose on a shattered horizon, the ocean queen retreated, her wrath satisfied. The captain was dead, the ship destroyed. Of all the passengers, only a few had survived, clinging to life as they drifted towards an unknown shore.
Kofi and his children finally reached land, battered and bruised but alive. They looked back at the vast ocean, where those fated to die had met their end at the hands of ancient, vengeful beasts. They had survived, but the horrors of that journey would haunt them forever.
