Once upon a time there was a happy family living in the
bush and they were all blind.
The hyena, a greedy animal, used to stroll in the same
bush to find food. One day, while the members of
the blind family were eating, the hyena smelt the food.
He crept towards the place where the smell was coming
from. How amazed he was when he saw the blind
family gathered around a bowl! The scene made the
hyena very happy.
At the same time the following day, the hyena went
to the blind family and shared the meal without letting
them notice that he was there. He did this many times
until one day a member of the blind family realised that
he was there.
How did the family find out about the hyena? When
they were eating, they used to stop at times, either to
chat or for a short rest. But the greedy hyena, who did
not know about this habit, never stopped eating. So,
when the others were resting he went on eating noisily.
This showed the family that a stranger was among them.
But they pretended not to have noticed, and let him eat
to his heart's content. Then, after the meal they all
decided to punish the thief.
The next day, the hyena came back to the family.
This time they caught him. They beat him up until he
vomited all he had eaten. From then on, he never
came back. The family enjoyed their meals once more
without any trouble from the hyena.
